Sasuke is/was a child, but he's completely consumed by revenge and constantly hungers for power. Hounded by a literal snakeman. Sasuke was left isolated and alone. Thanks to his brother, he is constantly reminded by his empty home what was taken from him.
Sasuke is saved by his brother and the Hokage from beyond the grave. Without this Naruto would be sure forced to kill him.

Obito was another war victim. Instead of dying , Madara saved him then imprisoned him. Everyone believed he was dead and moved on from him. Nobody would look for him. Essentially he was forgotten.
Now let's look at the atrocities Danzo commits. This list is endless but I'll list of the few dark thing's he's done.
Enslaved children
Danzo went through the pain staking effort of warping Kabutos memories. So his mother could not ever recognise him by slowly showing her photos oflver aperiod of years of a person that doesn't exist, basically ninja Photoshop. Then has his mother kill Kabuto(and ultimately fails). Forcing Kabuto into parricide. Understand that Kabuto did everything right.

Madara life he was used as folder for his elders. He watched many times he brothers and sisters come into the world just to be thrown away and killed.
Sasuke is the biggest mental push towards darkness. He's a main character and he wants to kill his own brother for the aforementioned patricide.

This is big one. Nagato. Nagato from the very start of his life was used as a sacrifice to bring a nutcase back from the dead. For that reason he was cursed with Rinnegan.

Patricide? Who could forget the Uchiha massacre. Itachi was forced into unwinnable situation. This guy was like 15. He could either kill his family or have the village do it for him, sparing no one. Itachi too did everything right .

Nagato forms the Akatsuki, however relations with Danzo are tossed into Disarray by Danzo. Hanzo murderers his friends . Turning Nagato into a psychotic killer we see by the time Naruto is born.
Kabuto descends into a never ending identity crisis. Something only Itachi manages to save him from years later.
Speaking of which, Orochinau is one fucked up dude. His view on life and death were warped by the horrors of war and seeks to become immortal. Fearing his knowledge would be lost if his death were to come to pass.
Torture them
Orochimaru was endorsed by Danzo to attach the Sharingan to him using Hashirama Cells ™.
Nagato and his friends were starving street kids from the Shinobi war. Jiraiya trained him, believing Nagato to be a child of destiny.
Madara used Obito cruely, setting up the love his life Rin to die, Kakashi unwilling killing her. Obito was crushed and became the insane person we meet later. Only becoming worse when he watches Kakashi blame himself for the next 20 years.
Mutilated them
So his become something of a crazy evil scientist. Extremely inhumane experiments . Kidnapping children and adults alike….like there's at least a few hundred that have starved to death in his many hideouts when he died. Most of these led horrific short lives.
From the very start of the series you have children being used as canon fodder for war. Children are trained to fight and kill each other. From as young as six years old. Even in the Boruto era.
Seriously this guy is totally fucked.
The moment he commits his act of fratricide, he becoming more unhinged and becomes a psychotic serial killer vent on destruction.
Orochimaru was eventually successful but none of his experiennents added to.that. they ended up all pointless. He basically Zetsued himself.
So yeah, I'm touching the surface but Naruto is dark.
Madara did eventually turn things around with the help of Hashirama. But things became twisted when Zetsu started to involve himself. Descending into madness and a saviour complex that involves countless sacrifices, torture, enslavement and eventually eternal imprisonment with a side taste of illusionary bliss on a global scale.
Obito went from a normal boy to a literal psycho.
Well would you look at that we are back at Danzo.
Sacrifice them
Madara never forgave Tobirama for slaying his brother either , I mean how could he.
Tasting power from said snakeman, Sasuke quickly thrusted for more. Becoming more unhinged. Throwing away even the fee people he could relate to.
